Welcome to SBS Chiangmai Primary!

The Primary phase at SBS International School is designed to showcase our diversity, creativity and academic excellence while respecting a focus on multilingualism. Primary School consists of Year 1 through to Year 6 and includes 11 different subjects which provides holistic growth ensuring students emerge as balanced, versatile individuals, equipped for the modern world.

Our curriculum is a continuation of our Cambridge Early Years Programme. This allows us to have a strong and seamless transition without hampering the smooth progress of a child’s developmental stages. It ensures a robust and solid foundation at the end of Early Years which sets the stage for their growth as they move through Primary and beyond.

Our Cambridge Primary Curriculum covers English (as a First or Second Language), Mathematics, Science, Global Perspectives, Humanities, Art & Design, Physical Education, Computing, and Music. It also consists of Modern Languages in Thai and Mandarin. At SBS International, we are dedicated to providing a programme focused around inquiry, research, collaboration and decision making. We aim to develop young learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged.

Here are some key features of our Primary School Programme:

Active Learning: Our pedagogical approach allows us to deliver an inquiry based learning style and direct instruction. Students are able to engage deeply in lessons, build confidence in themselves and acknowledge their responsibility in their learning process.

Language Learning: It is said that statistically when a child learns multiple languages, they can have an expansive ability to attain better memory and recognize patterns easily. SBS International Primary students attend additional Thai and Mandarin language courses and participate in cultural events throughout the year. We also offer an Intensive English Course (IEC) where students are assessed on their level of English through diagnostic assessment and classroom performance indicators.

Learning Environment: Our class sizes allow teachers to provide individual attention to students and allow a dynamic learning environment. Classrooms are equipped with materials, resources, and technology that supports a student’s learning development.

Preparation for Secondary School: Our Cambridge International curriculum framework from Early Years to Primary gives our students the readiness they require to confidently perform in their next level of learning. Students are able to make a smooth transition and are trained to be prepared for the changes they will face from Years 6 to 7 which delivers a smooth transition into the Cambridge Secondary Programme.

With warmest regards,

Mr. Santiago Gomez
